Town of Little Suamico

Est. 1859

Welcome

1859 are the earliest records that could be found. Ernst Kuntze was Chairman, Clerk, and Treasurer. The Old Town Hall was only used to hold the Town Annual Meeting and elections. Heat was provided by a wood stove, and sanitary facilities were furnished by way of an outside privy.

“Highway 41/141 Development Corridor Study”

Open House

Location: Town Hall Board Room

Date & Time: Thursday, January 23rd, 3pm-6pm.

You are invited to come to the “Open House” to review and ask questions about the draft recommendations of the study, anytime between 3pm and 6pm. A formal presentation will begin at 5pm. The Open House will showcase the following:

  • Engineers/Planners from Cedar Corporation as well as some members of the Town Plan Commission will be on hand to explain the work that has been completed thus far.
  • The corridor study includes the lands adjacent to Highway 41/141.
  • There will be future land use maps and examples of designs available to view.
  • The recommended uses and their design features have been drafted during Evening meetings, taking in recommendations from plan commissioners and the public over the past 5 months.
  • This is a DRAFT and we are looking for your comments.
  • The Study was initiated due to the growing development pressures along our Town’s highway corridor with very few design standards for the Town to consider.
  • The study will give the Town greater development controls while Promoting a plan of highest best use along the corridor while protecting adjacent landowners from incompatible uses.
  • The study is intended to give greater detail to the Town’s 20 Year Comprehensive Plan. Any amendments to the Comprehensive plan are not foreseen until early next summer, 2025.
  • The cost of this study was entirely paid for from the American Rescue Plan Act ARPA Federal funding.

See you There!

Written Comments are always accepted and can be sent to the Town Hall, 5964A County Road S. Sobieski, WI 54171 ATTN: Town Plan Commission.

The Town of Little Suamico is seeking an individual to fill a three-year position as a Plan Commission member. We are looking for dedicated candidates to be able to read, study and interpret our Town’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan and work with the public to understand and navigate zoning and permitting procedures. We have a special need for individuals currently in the Agricultural/Dairy businesses.

If interested, please email the Town Hall at lsclerk@bayland.net and let us know why you would make a great Plan Commissioner.

The Plan Commission meets monthly on the first Thursday of the month at 6pm and may be required to hold additional meetings if called upon. There is a $40 per diem per meeting.  In addition, Plan Commission members are asked to make onsite visits to properties petitioned to be changed (mileage will be reimbursed). We ask that if you are interested in being on the Commission that you can dedicate time and accountability as there will be meetings that you will need to attend and a few training opportunities.

If you would just want to volunteer occasionally, or become an Alternate, please let us know that as well.
